Instagram announced that they will be running a trial of removing the number of likes shown on a post “to remove pressure” on their users.
It is currently being tested in several countries including Australia.
The reason for the trial is due to the concern that social media pages contribute to users low self-esteem, which in turn makes them feel inadequate.
What this is trying to achieve, is to have users not feel as judged and to see if this can help people focus less on the like count and more on their story.
